Independence settles fatal police shooting lawsuit for $5.89 million after mother, infant killed
The city of Independence has agreed to a $5.89 million settlement in a lawsuit over a 2024 police shooting that killed Maria Pike and her infant daughter. More than $900,000 will come from city funds.
